FAMILY CENTERED CHILD CARE APPROACH PROJECT

KINDERGARTEN CARE

On May 29, 2007 supplies and materials arrived for the K-Care room. Caridad Pizarro, the head teacher, opened her boxes with excitement. Cari has a passion for diversity and the arts. She has many great ideas for integrating art across the curriculum. The new supplies and materials will help her to implement her ideas successfully. She ordered art supplies, such as an easel, paint and brushes, multicultural markers and even an African Mask making kit. The other items include dramatic play items, science materials, games, trucks and floor puzzles. As you can see the children were delighted to see the array of new toys and supplies for the room.

The girls instantly begin to play with the new multicultural dolls. The dolls provide powerful symbolic play opportunities as the girls negotiate social roles and formulate an early understanding of the world. Sharing new dolls

Children eagerly display board games that they will play together. Cooperative game playing is a skill these kindergarten children are focused on refining. New games
