Save Sprout Scouts
With your help, we can keep Sprout Scouts growing. A minimal $30 donation will fund a child to purchase and eat fresh produce from local farms all season long.
Sprout Scouts is a child empowerment incentive program that encourages children to make their own choices about which fruits & vegetables to buy and eat. All children who visit the farm stand at each Farm to Preschool location receive a Scout Sprout $2 coupon and are encouraged to visit each week, choose their own produce and build a relationship with the farmers. Children learn the importance of making healthy food choices for themselves and their families and are more likely to create and maintain these habits throughout their lives.
The 2017 Farm to Preschool Farm Stands run from mid-June through the end of September set up weekly at the four following child care programs:
The Child Care Center at Cohoes Community Center at 22-40 Remsen St, Cohoes; CEO Head Start Program, located at 754 4th Ave, Troy; Parsons Early Head Start and SCAP Head Start at 125 Bigelow Avenue in Schenectady; YWCA of NorthEastern NY Child Care Programs at 44 Washington Ave, Schenectady with farmers from Altamont Orchards, Denison Farm, Karen's Produce and Barber's PYO Farm.
The Farm to Preschool Farm Stands run 15 weeks this year. A $30 donation will give a single child a $2 coupon each week to redeem for fresh produce - a small price to pay for the long lasting relationships and habits they form.
