DESCRIPTION  The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the Boys and Girls Club, provides strategic leadership and direction to fulfill the Club’s mission, oversees quality assurance, improvement and expansion of programs, and assures the organization’s financial viability and growth. The Executive Director works with the Board of Directors and all stakeholders to identify and secure the needed financial resources to achieve annual and long-term goals. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Leadership: provides leadership and overall direction for the Club in fulfilling its mission, including a multi-year strategic plan and annual goals to achieve success.
Administration and Management: ensures that operations systems and procedures are in place to support effective operations, financial management, facilities management and supervision of staff and programs. Conducts periodic and annual evaluation of programs, utilizing outcomes data for continuous improvement and development opportunities.
Financial Development: responsible for managing the resources necessary to carry out the Club’s annual plans, including working with the finance committee on the annual budget and with the Board of Directors on financial development strategic plans.
Human Resources: ensures that the Club has the required human resources to administer effective programs and carry out its mission, including written personnel policies, recruitment, selection, training and annual evaluation of staff, hiring diverse staff with appropriate qualifications for the Club’s programming needs, holding staff accountable for program implementation and providing staff development on a regular basis.
Marketing and Public Relations: assures the Club’s high visibility and strong relationship with the community so that it is considered a premier youth organization by community leaders and is widely visible to attract strong membership.
Board Relationship: works with the Board of Directors to develop organizational goals, secure and allocate necessary resources and establish policies. Oversees staff liaisons to Board committees to ensure they are provided with the information and support necessary to fulfill objectives.
Partnership Development: works with local officials, agencies, organizations and funders to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships to support the Club’s mission. Other responsibilities as required to support the mission, goals and success of the Club.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited higher education institution, or bachelor’s degree with progressively responsible work experience in related field;
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in leading a small- to medium-sized organization, including development and execution of strategic plans to achieve impact;
  • Two years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field of work. • Experience in leading resource development efforts to attract funds from major individual donors, corporations and foundations;
  • Visionary and driven leadership style;
  • Proven track record in grant writing and administration of grants;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, staff, community groups and other related agencies;
  • Strong knowledge of asset management including financial resources, property and facilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak effectively and persuasively to individuals and groups.
