The Commission on Economic Opportunity(CEO) is seeking candidates for Family Advocate opportunities in our Early Childhood Services program. Our Family Advocates work to establish a partnership with families, utilizing a family development approach to help families identify their own strengths, needs and goals.

Family Advocates more specifically will:

Assist families in accessing community resources such as mental health, schooling, and childcare as well as work collaboratively with service providers
Plan, conduct and assist with monthly parent meetings, events, and education sessions
Encourage parent involvement in program and classroom events
Assist families with transportation to appointments, as needed
Maintain complete and accurate case notes for each family
Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree in Human Services or related field
1+ years of case management experience
Valid and clean NYS driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle required
Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the above:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field and prior work experience in a case management field
A Family Development Credential
Prior experience working with disadvantaged families in an advocacy role and knowledge of community resources
Bilingual a plus

The Education Specialist position will provide classroom support and guidance to teachers. This support and guidance will be accomplished through regular classroom observations, getting to know the teaching staff and children in the program.

The responsibilities of the Education Specialist will be to design a monitoring system to help ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards. From this monitoring system; review and tracking of program assessments will take place. Regular team meetings for program planning purposes and collaboration with Early Childhood Managers will be important to the success of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

CEO is seeking a highly committed and energetic individual to provide leadership and oversight of Universal Pre-K programming located in elementary school settings. The UPK Manager will be responsible for quality and compliance in the classrooms.

More specifically the candidate will:
* Monitor and ensure compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and State Education
regulations, in regard to policies and procedures as they relate to the program’s education and
child development
* Assist with the recruitment, hiring and training of UPK staff
* Act as a role model for all staff to follow, consistently supporting and enforcing policies,
procedures and mission
* Visit each assigned site regularly to provide ongoing observation, support, training, and
monitoring of the UPK staff. Temporarily provide coverage to UPK classrooms in the absence of
staff, as necessary
* Other responsibilities include review files for compliance, staff coverage, evaluations and other
additional reporting requirements

Qualifications:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related field
* Minimum of one year supervisory experience
* Experience working with preschool children and evaluating staff performance within a classroom
setting
* Knowledge of legislation (Federal and State) applicable to preschool education
* A clean and valid NYS Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is required
