Child Care Start Up Developer

The Capital District Child Care Council is seeking candidates who are committed to having a positive impact on our community.

As Child Care Developer, you will assist potential child care providers to start a home child care business. Support our community in improving child care availability, retention, and quality programs that are accessible to families who reside in New York’s Capital Region.

The Child Care Developer assists individuals who are interested in starting a family child care business in three ways: coaching, advocating, and connecting. As a coach, the Child Care Developer can assist potential child care providers with things such as: filling out the state application, securing insurance, attaining medical & background clearance, and in understanding the field of early education. As an advocate, the Child Care Developer can work alongside a child care provider to navigate challenges and obstacles encountered during the registration/licensing process. As a connection, the Child Care Developer can connect the child care provider with community and government agencies that are positioned to assist with issues such as training scholarships, food reimbursement, quality enhancement, and business practices.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting individuals to become registered/licensed child care providers
  • Recruiting existing child care providers who wish to expand their hours of operation
  • Functioning as a trainer, resource, and advocate new & existing child care providers
  • Working in conjunction with OCFS Registrars/licensors to assist with licensing applications
  • Documenting case management activities in the required time frame and format
  • Helping develop procedures for engaging with potentially interested child care providers

Qualifications

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; including public speaking experience
  • Possess the capacity to manage diverse/challenging tasks and competing priorities
  • Work with limited supervision
  • Highly organized
  • Creative & flexible; able to thrive in a dynamic, ever-changing environment
  • Experience working with a culturally diverse population; sensitive to the needs and challenges of under-resourced individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to track progress and maintain client contact
  • Proficient in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL; able to learn and utilize various cloud-based solutions
  • Outgoing, fast-paced, motivated, self-assured, and determined
  • Able to speak, read and write in Spanish and English
  • A valid driver’s license

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $35,000.00 to $40,000.00 /year
