Infant Toddler Child Care Trainer/Coach | Full-time

    The New York State Office of Children and Families Services provides funding for the operation Regional Infant Toddler Technical Assistance Centers across New York State located within host child care resource and referral agencies CCR&Rs. The centers are staffed by Infant and Toddler Specialists and provide a valuable resource for parents and

child care providers. This initiative is aimed at supporting high quality infant and toddler care. Counties served by the Capital District Child Care Council are: Albany, Columbia, Delaware, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Otsego, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, Washington, Clinton, Essex, and Franklin.

General Responsibilities This position is for an infant/toddler (early care and education) specialist to improve the quality of child care provided to the regions infants, toddlers, and their families.

Responsibilities include developing and disseminating information specific to infant/toddler caregiving issues; providing outreach, training and technical assistance to early care and education professionals regarding infant/toddler health, safety, development and inclusion issues; advocacy and consultation regarding public policy related to infants and toddlers in group care settings; and developing infant/toddler early learning and caregiving information and resources that promote healthy, safe, quality infant/toddler care environmentsQualifications

  • Master’s degree in child development or a related field (preferred) OR a bachelor’s degree in child development or a related field, plus working experience in early care and education program.

  • Expertise in infant/toddler early learning/development and group care settings, including knowledge of current research, regulations, and best practices.

  • Excellent training and presentation skills, including demonstrated ability to develop appropriate materials.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Computer skills working on IBM-compatible computers using word processing, internet/email, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint software.

  • Ability to work independently and as team member, and willingness to travel for presentations and meetings throughout the region.

Position  

Registrar of School Age/Family Child Care Programs | Full-time

   

The Registrar Position is responsible for implementing the registration process for school-age and family child care programs. Responsibilities include on-sight monitoring of child care facilities to ensure compliance with licensing requirements; reviewing and recommending/approving case actions; and investigating complaints involving violations of the New York State Child Care Regulations and violations of licensing requirements, including abuse and neglect of children in both licensed and unlicensed facilities; and assisting child care providers in meeting minimum requirements and attaining optimum quality by providing on-going technical assistance and consultation to the facility.

General Responsibilities:

  • Review and process registration and renewal applications
  • Conduct inspections for compliance to regulations and in response to complaints
  • Maintain inspection and compliance documentation in the Child Care Facility System
  • Provide technical assistance to help potential applicants understand and comply with regulations
  • Send notices and follow-up with providers subject to regulation
  • Work in collaboration with the Education/Training Team to accomplish professional development goals for all registered providers

Skills Needed

  • Must possess working knowledge of New York State Office of Children and Family Services regulations
  • Must possess working knowledge to evaluate Family Child Care and School-Age Child Care Programs registered under New York State Office of Children and Family Services
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents and write routine reports with basic computer literacy skills
  • Detail oriented, accurate, and deadline driven
  • Must be a flexible, team-player with the ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups of people, or employees of the organization
  • Must be available for routine travel

Requirements:

  • A minimum of Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required, Bachelor Degree preferred
  • A minimum of three to five years’ experience in early childhood or school-age setting required
  • Home visitation experience preferred
  • A valid New York State driver's license
