Credential Preparation Programs
Credential Preparation Programs are available for family child care providers, child care center teachers and after school caregivers. Preparatory programs are designed for those who want to improve program skills and confi dence in working with children in order to advance professionally. Courses are available to professionals working in all 6 counties served by the Council.
The Child Development Associate is a nationally recognized credential. The Council's Preparatory Program is a unique combination of training and mentoring. This dual approach supports the CDA candidate in successfully completing their credential while focusing on quality improvement within their program. Find out more about the Child Development Associate (CDA) by visiting the Council for Professional Recognition website.
The NYS School-Age Care Credential has been developed to promote quality services to children and families by providing specific standards, training, and evaluation of school-age staff members and providers. It is an opportunity for adults working with school-age children to gain professional recognition for demonstrating competence in their on-the-job skills. The Council’s School-Age Educators conduct SAC Credential Preparation Classes and serve as advisors. The Council serves as the state-wide coordinator of the School-Age Credential. Please contact Lynn Siebert at lsiebert@cdcccc.org regarding renewal, endorsement, preparatory course work, or final assessments. Find out more about the School-Age Care Credential (SAC) by visiting the AfterSchool Works NY website.
Continuing Education Units (CEU) for CDA Renewal
Most Child Care Council workshops award continuing Education Units (CEU) that qualify towards the renewal of the Child Development Associate. CEU's are listed in the workshop description in our training catalog, the Compass and in the workshop descriptions listed in the on-line registration form.
