Child Development Associate for Family and Group Family Child Care Providers

The Child Development Associate (CDA) is a nationally recognized professional credential for individuals working in the early childhood field and directly caring for and teaching young children. The CDA demonstrates a teacher’s ability to turn knowledge into practice. Child Care Providers that participate in CDA gain:

  • Hands on experience

  • Formal child development training and education

  • Observations by a qualified advisor

  • A collection of resources

  • Parent opinions

The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) sponsors the only nationally recognized accreditation system, designed specifically for family child care providers. NAFCC Accreditation is recognized as the highest indicator that a family child care program is a quality environment.

This innovative approach to earning your CDA & Accreditation includes guest speakers as well as traditional class lectures.

The CDA/NAFCC Program fulfills your 30 hour licensing requirement.

The program also provides the 120 classroom hours necessary to apply for the credential, as well as individual advisement from a qualified mentor, a valuable part of success.

The tuition is $1900 and includes all books and advisement. Educational Incentive Program (EIP) Scholarships may be available. Call SUNY at 443-5940 to receive an application or apply on-line at www.tsg.suny.edu.
